A Dog Trainer, a Pastry Chef, and 12 Dogs Walk Into A Bar...

Sounds like the start of a bad joke doesn't it? But this is no joke...

THIS is an adventure.

Think “Two Broke Girls” meets “I love Lucy”. Then toss in a Sprinter Van, 12 very intense, high level competitive and security K9s and a stop in dozens of cities across the country.

Let the fun … and chaos … ensue!

This is the adventure we are embarking on. We will travel from Southern California to the East Coast and back, exploring dog friendly destinations along the way and documenting every step of our journey, sharing with you our stories, our travel secrets, and a raw, behind-the-scenes look at #k9vanlife.

"Things were a little more ridiculous last time around. The two of us made the 22 hour road trip with 5 dogs and three cats….in a Kia…"

We've Got Some Killer Stories...

"I've never been in the back of a cop car before. I surely never thought it would happen while I was in my pajamas, soaking wet, after chasing sheep down the street in the freezing rain."

This is Shank...

Ever seen the TV Show "Bates Motel"? It's a spin-off of the classic horror flick Psycho, documenting the twisted relationship between fictional serial killer Norman Bates, and his mother Norma.

Shank is my Norman Bates.

While he isn't necessarily my typical style of dogs (I like bold, reckless dogs with more drive than sense), Shank, with his eerie attachment issues, his calculated approach to life, and his unearthly intelligence, manipulated me into loving him in less than 24 hours.

Now, he's at the heart of everything I do.

Shank is training for a sport called French Ring after which he plans to compete in IPO. He isn't your typical sporty dog. He has an edge. A serial killer-esque about him, having been returned to his breeder for some hefty aggression at just 4.5 months old.

This is Shank's trip. We are simply his passengers...

"I’ll spare you the gritty details of the next few hours. All I will say is that it involved 5 hour energy and Amy slowly having a mental breakdown."
